Oost is oost

Made with Sonnevanck jeugdtheater Enschede

In the foyer of the brandnew Muziekkwartier in Enschede a location-performance was made that would be performed several times. During the rehearsals the building of the Muziekkwartier was still going on, no testing or rehearsal could be done there. The space to store the set was very limited and it had to be transported through small elevators and narrow doors. It also had to be built and removed quickly, since the performance location would be used for other activities a couple of hours after the performance. A set was developed that could be built quickly (45 minutes) and was compact when dismantled. And seating had to be put in place also in max. 45 minutes. But those are technicians and producers problems. The performance made well use of the wide open space, balconies, windows at 4 meter elevation. The music sounded well, the princess was charming and the main characters bold and boy-like. The harp appaered magically, the cilinders opened suddenly, and the audience (mostly kids) had a good time.

Only one rehearsal could be done on location. Here the set is still under construction, final details are still lacking for example the cover of the wheels, painting the wood, more posters in the cylinders.

radio controlled "bootje" (ship) with a harp and actress in it. It appaered "magically" when she called for her harp.
